What studies have you done?

I first started with scientific studies, I did a preparatory class in biology and then a bachelor's degree in chemistry. After that I devoted myself to something totally different since I obtained a one-year certificate in theater and art. Finally, I completed my studies with the FESIPCA master's degree, which I graduated in 2016.

What is your professional path after your ISIPCA degree?

During my year of training at ISIPCA I was on an apprenticeship contract at Symrise for 2 years in Fine Fragrance Evaluation. I was then hired by the same company for which I worked as a Fine Fragrance Evaluator for 5 years before jumping into the entrepreneurial adventure with the creation of Récoltes which I co-developed with Élodie Cottin, a former classmate and colleague at Symrise. Récoltes is a concept of handcrafted candles that are rhythmed by the seasons. Indeed, we have at heart to deal with what nature offers us, so our winter harvest is composed of three candles: Mimosa Maquis, Pin Iodé and Cacao fumé. Besides, we are impatient to unveil very soon the autumn harvest which will be released on March 8th!

What do you particularly appreciate about your current job?

In the perfume industry, evaluators are often asked if their goal is to become a perfumer, which for me has never been my case. Although passionate and determined, I always knew that I did not have the patience that this profession requires to see my ideas through to the end. However, I very quickly understood that my expertise would be to propose and share my olfactory ideas with perfumers and thus assist them in the development of a perfume.

With Récoltes, the desire was to go beyond the perfume bottle, to create a real olfactory object, as a way of completing the development of the perfume with a finished product. What I particularly like is the fact that we work as a duo on each step of the creation with Élodie and our collaborating perfumers without any precise definition of the tasks. Récoltes is really the story of two people who love perfume and who work with four hands to deliver pure happiness in candles!

Why did you choose this industry?

As a scientist and theater enthusiast, I needed a job that would canalize my two passions. Perfumery was the perfect balance, halfway between science and craftsmanship.

What advice(s) would you give to an alumni interested in your job?

Cultivate your awareness. Indeed, I think that to touch people you need to have a certain sensibility, it is a real strength in a small environment like Perfumery.

How would you describe your experience at ISIPCA in 2 words?

Joyful and passionate.

Do you have a memory of ISIPCA that you would like to share with us?

Formulation classes during which I shared my neighbouring bench with Alice Leberre. I couldn't stand still during these classes because I was always very impatient, so I helped Alice to weigh her formulas, I helped her to smell and I shared my ideas about her essays. As if this predestined us for our vocations, today she is a perfumer for the Robertet house and I am an evaluator!
