Book summary: In the first few years of life, children memorize the smells that will condition their future relationship with scents. The scents of lavender from Grasse, waffles on the beach or moss after the rain, assimilated until the age of seven, form a comforting olfactory universe. Fragrance creation is based on these codes. What is a Nose? How does one become a perfumer? How are perfumes created? Drawing on her long experience at Guerlain, Sylvaine Delacourte tells the story of this profession and the creative processes behind fragrances. From the combination of notes that make up a perfume to the choice of packaging, she explains the different stages in the creation of fragrances and lifts the veil on a world as mysterious as it is fascinating.
